The Official Attendance Record
The teacher marks the student as present, absent, or tardy. The campus administration determines if the absences are excused, unexcused, etc. A student's attendance record may be changed by the teacher or by campus administrators. Some circumstances in which this may occur include:
A student was marked absent and then arrived to class tardy
An absence was marked unexcused but was later determined to be excused
An absence was marked excused but was later determined to be unexcused
It is the teacher's responsibility to record attendance in a timely manner (at least daily). If this occurs, the attendance record will be updated throughout the day, and the most accurate attendance data will be displayed on the student's attendance page.
Attendance for State Funding:
The official attendance record determines funding received by the campus from the state. Each campus is required to maintain records showing Average Daily Attendance (ADA) for the campus. The official attendance for the day is taken during the ADA period (usually the second or fifth period of the day).
The established ADA period does not change during the school year.
For funding purposes, students who are absent during the ADA period will be counted absent for the entire day. Students who are present during the ADA period will be counted present for the entire day.
For funding purposes, a student must be present for at least two hours to be considered in membership for a half day, and for at least four hours to be considered in membership for one full day.

El docente marca al estudiante como presente, ausente o tarde. La administración del campus determina si las faltas son justificadas, injustificadas, etc. El registro de asistencia de un estudiante puede ser modificado por el docente o por los administradores del campus. Algunas circunstancias en las que podría hacerse son:
Se marcó a un estudiante como ausente y después llegó tarde a la clase.
Se marcó una ausencia como injustificada, pero después se determinó que era justificada.
Se marcó una ausencia como justificada, pero después se determinó que era injustificada.
Es responsabilidad del docente registrar la asistencia de manera oportuna (por lo menos una vez al día). Si esto ocurre, el registro de asistencia se actualizará a lo largo del día, y en la página de asistencia del estudiante aparecerán los datos de asistencia más precisos.
Asistencia para fondos estatales:
El registro oficial de asistencia determina los fondos que el campus recibe del Estado. Cada campus está obligado a mantener registros que muestren la asistencia promedio diaria (por sus siglas en inglés, “ADA”) del campus. La asistencia oficial del día se toma durante el período de ADA (por lo general, el segundo o quinto período del día).
El período establecido de ADA no cambia durante el año escolar.
Para efectos de financiamiento, los estudiantes que estén ausentes durante el período de ADA se contarán como ausentes todo el día. Los estudiantes que estén presentes durante el período de ADA se contarán como presentes todo el día.
Para efectos de financiamiento, un estudiante debe estar presente al menos por dos horas para considerar su membresía por medio día, y al menos por cuatro horas para considerar su membresía por un día completo.
