Required Fields for STAAR/TAKS Extracts

The Online STAAR/TAKS EOC and STAAR/TAKS Precoding extracts require that certain fields in Registration and Test Scores be set to allow data to be extracted for students taking particular types of exams.

Online STAAR/TAKS EOC Extract

This utility does not look at code T STAAR-Alt. It only creates records for students taking courses that are coded as STAAR EOC based on the service ID of the course. Precode records for alternate EOC tests are created using STAAR/TAKS Precoding Extract with STAAR-Alt selected.

TAKS

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be 9-12.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE: STAAR/TAKS Ind must be TAKS.

If the student is in grade level 9, Dt Entry 9th Grd on the Demo2 tab must be blank or prior to 07/01/2011.

STAAR

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be 6-12.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE: STAAR/TAKS Ind must be STAAR.

If the student is in grade level 10-12, Dt Entry 9th Grd on Demo2 tab must be on or after 07/01/2011. It cannot be blank for these grade levels.
Even if all subjects under Precoding STAAR Status are selected as T: STAAR Alternate 2, the student will be extracted for STAAR EOC if at least one of the classes he is taking is EOC.

EB Versions

Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE: Precoding STAAR/TAKS Status:
- For the student to receive the EB version of Algebra 1, Math must be set to L: STAAR L.
- For the student to receive the EB version of Algebra 2, Math must be set to L: STAAR L.
- For the student to receive the EB version of Biology, Science must be set to L: STAAR L.
- For the student to receive the EB version of US History, Social Studies must be set to L: STAAR L.
- There are no EB versions of English I, English II, or English III.

STAAR/TAKS Precoding Extract

Spring TELPAS

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be KG-12.
Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Bil/ESL:
- EB Cd must be 1 or C.
- Exit Date must be blank.

STAAR Alternate 2 (STAAR 3-8 and STAAR EOC)

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be 3-12.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE:
- STAAR/TAKS Ind must be STAAR.
- Precoding STAAR Status must be T: STAAR-Alternate 2 for at least one subject, and the student must be taking a course with a qualifying service ID in that subject:
  - If Eng Lang Arts is T, the student must be taking a course with service ID 03220107, 03220207, 03200607, or 03200707.
  - If Math is T, the student must be taking a course with service ID 03100507.
  - If Science is T, the student must be taking a course with service ID 03010207.
  - If Social Studies is T, the student must be taking a course with service ID 03340107.

STAAR EOC

Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE:
- STAAR/TAKS Ind must be STAAR or blank.
Student's Dt Entry 9th Grd on Demo2 tab must be on or after 07/01/2011.

Service IDs for EOC exam subjects

If the student is listed as T: STAAR-Alternate 2 for a subject, the precode will only include the student for that subject if the student is taking a course in that subject with a service ID that indicates it is a STAAR EOC Alt course.

STAAR/STAAR A and STAAR/STAAR A Early

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be 3-8.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE:
- STAAR/TAKS Ind must be STAAR.
- Precoding STAAR Status cannot be T: STAAR-Alternate 2 for any subject.
- If a student is testing at a different grade level then the grade level entered on the Demo1 tab, select the appropriate grade level in the Above Grd field for the subject.
- STAAR L and STAAR A test versions have been discontinued effective with the 2017 spring administrations.
- If the student is taking the SOA version of the test, Precoding STAAR Status must be set to R: STAAR SOA for the subject.
  - Math and Engl Lang apply to grade levels 4 and 7 (either as indicated in the Grade field on the Demo1 tab or as set in the Above Grd field on the PRECODE page).
  - Science and Social Studies apply to grade level 8 (either as indicated in the Grade field on the Demo1 tab or as set in the Above Grd field on the PRECODE page).

Exit Level TAKS (NO LONGER USED)

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1: Grade must be 10-12.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE:
- STAAR/TAKS Ind must be TAKS.
- TAKS Exit Level Indicator must be selected.
- Precoding STAAR Status cannot be T: STAAR-Alternate 2 for any subject.

STAAR Interim

Registration > Maintenance > Student Enrollment > Demo1:
- Grade must be 03-08 for Reading and Math.
- Grade must be 03-05 for Spanish Reading and Spanish Math.
- Grade must be 05-12 for English I, English II, and Algebra I.
Test Scores > Maintenance > Individual Maintenance > PRECODE:
- STAAR/TAKS Ind must be STAAR.
- For a student to be included, at least assessment must be selected under Precoding STAAR Interim.
  
  NOTE: If a student meets this criteria, he is included even if Precoding STAAR status fields for Eng Lang Arts and Math are set to T (which prevents a student from inclusion in the STAAR/STAAR A extract).
